Coach Brian is from New York City. He’s played D3 basketball in the mid 90s upstate New York. Coach Brian brings over 25 years of Basketball training and coaching experience to SFA Academy Coach Brian believes in developing young athletes that are determined and striving to get better and be the best versions of themselves. Coach Brian, most recent time was spent five years at Tampa Catholic developing some of the counties best players that are currently playing D1 basketball
Coach Mike Wylie, SFA’s Head Strength & Conditioning/ Regional Assistant Coach. Mike has a background in functional training, Corrective Exercise, and Performance Enhancement through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and has worked with a plethora of high level athletes through his business. He is also a masterful skills coach who focuses heavily on efficiency and precision, as he has had the opportunity to spar against multiple professional D1 and Professional players throughout his time in basketball We are excited to bring him on staff as we strive for unmeasurable success not only as a team, but a family as well
Cook brings to SFA a career defined by structure, service, and results. A United States Marine Corps disabled veteran, accomplished coach, published author, and American essayist, Cook has spent decades mentoring athletes with an unflinching commitment to growth—on the court and beyond it. He holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee and has coached at every competitive level of high school and prep basketball. His experience includes head coaching positions with nationally recognized grassroots programs such as Team Herro (Nike EYBL) and Power 5 (Adidas 3SSB), along with his leadership as Head Varsity Coach at Kingdom Prep Lutheran High School. He also contributed as a national-level assistant at both DME Academy and Chicago Prep Sports Academy, helping develop athletes who would go on to succeed at the collegiate and international levels. Cook is widely respected as a sharp and relentless recruiter—known for identifying and developing talent both domestically and internationally. His longstanding relationships with college coaches and decision-makers give his athletes real opportunities, not just exposure. Off the court, Cook is also a respected American essayist and author. His Substack publication, Beyond the Fastbreak, has reached over a million readers, offering sharp cultural analysis and commentary on youth sports, leadership, and education. In May 2024, he published AAU Basketball Unlocked: A Comprehensive Guide for Parents & Athletes, now available on Amazon and iTunes.
